Our Berries
Strawberries
At Marcy’s we grow 12 different varieties of strawberries to ensure a long picking season, from mid-June to late-July, depending on the weather. Strawberries are delicious when eaten fresh, or can be used to make jam or in baking. They also freeze well for later use.
Raspberries
Here at the farm we grow several varieties of both red and black raspberries. Raspberries are delicious when eaten fresh, but can also be used in jams, pies and tarts, and smoothies. They are high in fiber, and a great source of vitamin C and powerful antioxidants!
Blueberries
When ripe, blueberries have a pleasant, sweet taste. They are often eaten fresh and have an excellent shelf life. They can also be frozen to use in baking, smoothies, or jams! Blueberries are considered a superfruit, and are full of fiber, vitamins, and minerals!
Gooseberries
Gooseberries range in colour from green to purple, and in flavour from sour to sweet. Their taste and texture is similar to grapes, but slightly more acidic. Gooseberries are highly nutritious and are best used in jams or pies and add a nice tang when mixed with other fruit!
Currants
Red Currants are tender, tart and juicy red berries. They are not very popular as a snacking berry, but can make a beautiful red currant jelly! Black Currants have an earthy flavour and are best used to make jams, jellys, syrups, or cooked in sweet and savoury dishes.
Haskaps
Haskaps will no longer be available at the farm. Over the past few years, the health of our haskap bushes has declined due to a cane-borer beetle. As there is no treatment for these beetles, we have unfortunately had to remove our haskap patch.
About us
Marcy’s Berries first opened their farm for pick-your-own strawberries in 1992! Keith and Nora Marcy began with 1.5 acres of strawberries, and over the years have expanded to over 10 acres of more than 8 different varieties of berries, available for pick-your-own and ready-picked. Their love for their community and their farm is evident in the many hours that they pour into growing berries for your enjoyment! Come visit us and enjoy the country farm experience for yourself!
